October 8th

This spectacular image of ISON was captured on October 8th by astrophotographer Adam Block using the 0.81-meter (32-inch) Schulman telescope at the University of Arizona.

To the the upper left on the side of the photo is a magnitude 9.55 star. Here’s what that looks like in Stellarium at approximately 11:15 UTC.

Here’s what Mobberley’s image looks like in Stellarium. To the upper left but near ISON is a magnitude 9.55 star. On the lower right is the 14th-magnitude spiral galaxy IC 568.
